The first ten amendments to the U.S. Constitution, the “Bill of Rights,” were enacted to defend the inalienable rights of the human person. Among the most important of these amendments is the Second, which protects citizens’ rights to “keep and bear arms.”
The right to keep and bear arms is under heavy assault by the authoritarian ruling elite. An armed populace has the ability to forcefully resist the imposition of tyrannical government upon the country. Not surprisingly, history demonstrates that among the first acts of authoritarian regimes is the disarming of the people. Once disarmed, the population is at the mercy of those who would exploit, oppress and enslave them.
The right of the people to keep and bear arms must be maintained. If elected to Congress, I will fight any effort to disarm the American people.
