Are you old enough to remember the fall of the Berlin Wall?  It came down in 1989 and symbolized the collapse of the Soviet Bloc and end of the Cold War.  The Soviet Union officially collapsed in 1991 and the “Communist Threat” was dead.

At that time, there was a lot of optimistic talk about world peace and the prospect of a huge “peace dividend.”  Many thought that we would no longer need to spend vast sums on the military and could reorder our budget priorities to benefit the American people.

This turned out to be wishful thinking.  The Military-Industrial-Congressional Complex (MICC) had no intention of getting off their taxpayer-funded gravy train.  They came up with new “threats” that justified the continuation of the warfare state.  Using the MICC-controlled mainstream propaganda news media, they tricked the American people into believing that we faced a variety of threats: from Islamic terrorist organizations, and from states such as Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, North Korea, Russia and China.

It is not the American people who are threatened by these entities, but the ambitions of MICC oligarchs who want to rule the world.  Under color of law, they’ve sucked the life blood from the American middle and working classes and spread war, destruction and misery around the world.

With a handful of exceptions, members of Congress represent, not the American people, but the interests of the ruling class (which I refer to as the MICC, following President Eisenhower’s lead).  It’s time to elect people to Congress who will rein in the bloated Pentagon budget, who will prioritize a policy of defending the United States over our current policy of defending a worldwide economic and political empire that benefits only the globalist ruling elite.
